Holy Kryptonite, Superman!
The substance famous for sapping the power from Superman has been discovered in a Serbian mine. Mining researchers discovered the unusual mineral and enlisted the help of Dr. Chris Stanley, a mineralogist at London’s Natural History Museum, to identify it. Dr. Stanley analyzed the chemical make up and discovered it was the same formula referenced in the Superman tales. Dr. Stanley said, “I’m afraid it’s not green and it doesn’t glow either… although it will react to ultraviolet light by fluorescing a pinkish-orange.” For more information, check out the BBC article.
